Near the Lemuy Islands, Charles Darwin met a small creature that was eventually named Rhinoderma darwinii. This frog lives in the temperate forests of southern South America, specifically between Chile and Argentina. It has a small body that usually does not exceed three centimeters in length, and specimens have been found in places covered by snow during the winter months.
